What a couple of years its been. With all of the safety precautions we still need to take and all the time spent indoors, any activity that gets us, and especially the kids, outside is a good thing. We all need a way to burn off that excess energy and even better if its right in your own backyard.
Get a NiceRink
If you’re homeschooling again his season you might be wondering about things you can enjoy outdoors with the kids after winter rolls back in. We have a solution for the whole family. If you want to get some solid exercise and fresh air, why not put an ice rink in your backyard this winter! Turf Prep is happy to work with you to plan and install a NiceRink – a temporary ice rink for your own backyard.
Customize your backyard rink
One of the great things about a NiceRInk is that it can be built to fit in your backyard. Whether you have tons of open yard space or a smaller outside area, we can work with you to set up the NiceRink that will work for you. You don’t even need a level location to have a rink installed. Just a measurement of any slope in the yard and a decision about the size of the rink and you’re ready to go!
You can even start installation early. It’s a lot easier to get the rink prepared while the ground is a little softer and it’s a lot more comfortable to work outside.
When to fill your rink
Once you’ve had some consistently cold days and evenings below the freezing point, you can fill up your rink. Nights are important because you’ll have longer, colder freezing time without the sun shining down on everything. You’re going to want to give it some time to freeze-up good and make sure it’s ready to go before you lace up your skates. Patience is a virtue! We have another blog here from last year which gives you some additional tips on fancying things up a bit if you want o showboat a little for your neighbors or yourself!
Get out there!
Once everything is all set and your rink is good and frozen it’s time to get out there. Help the kids organize a hockey game or just practice their skills. Maybe you have a future Olympic skater in the family who needs some practice time. The kids can get all the practice and exercise they need while still maintaining safe social distancing – they’re in their own yard! Maybe if you’re lucky, they’ll let Dad and Mom use it once in a while too!
