Preparing Your Synthetic Turf for Spring

May 1, 2019adminblog, GMAX Testing, Synthetic TurfNo Comments

The temperatures are up and the sky is clearing up, which means spring sports season is right around the corner! Before your players start practicing and the games start to pile up, you should make sure your synthetic grass field is properly maintained in order to keep it safe for your athletes and anyone who uses it. Follow these steps to improve the appearance and functionality of your grass this spring!

Remove debris

All across New England, homeowners and groundskeepers alike will be cleaning off their yards as the weather begins to clear up, removing any fallen branches and leaves and disposing of them according to local regulations. Making sure your grass is cleared off is important for several reasons: in addition to posing a safety hazard to players or runners who may trip on stuck branches or slip on wet leaves, compressed debris can lead to mold and fungus forming in the rubber infill can lead to health risks and allergic reactions. Use a plastic rake or bristled brush to remove any debris. If you use a metal rake, you can damage the grass blades and the layer beneath.

Touch Up Lines

You need crisp lines in order to play according to the rules and regulations of the game. Hiring a professional company to touch up the lines will help keep them straight, and Turf Prep can also paint and touch up your logo on the field for a more personalized touch.

Schedule Maintenance

From ensuring that the rubber infill keeping your grass standing straight is evenly distributed to checking seams between sheets of turf, there are plenty of aspects of your synthetic turf that require maintenance. Scheduling regular maintenance, including periodic GMAX safety testing, will keep your field safe for everyone who uses it.
