Like every sport the rules of soccer are adjusted based on age and skill level. Therefore a youth would be shooting on a much easier goal than a collegiate athlete. The standard goals and netting size used in soccer are as follows:
- U6 – U8: 4’ x 6’
- U9 – U10: 6.5’ x 18.5’
- U11 – U12: 7’ x 21’
- U13 – U19: 8’ x 24’
The most common goal/netting used for game days are the 8’ x 24’ goals. These are known as the standard size and what every person above the age of 12 will play on. If you want to become great at soccer it’s important to know what goal you will be facing and how to best prepare for it. If you haven’t tried shooting on a standard 8’ x 24’ goal then you should go see how you do against it. Based on the results will tell you how much you may need to improve or train against this type of goal.
